What to expect from “Here’s the Kicker” as we jump into the blogosphere

Welcome to Wilcox Group’s Here’s the Kicker. We thought that since every member of our client team is solidly involved online we should share some of our social media expertise. To be honest, there still are a lot of people who are scared to take the leap into the Wild Wild Web. There’s so much information out there – how do you know what’s right for you?

We want to share useful information that’s interesting above all else. We also want to make sure our posts are applicable to you and your business. What does that mean? Well, for starters, we plan to question whether Foursquare just a toy; share how can you protect your online reputation; and write about the right way or the wrong way to engage influencers.

While we stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest here at Wilcox, we’re not going to attempt to break news or provide answers to everything that’s out there. After all, Mashable and Tech Crunch have their fire hoses of information running full blast.

This blog is a firm-wide effort, and our client team will be contributing. Here are short intros to those you’ll be seeing posts from:

Mat – a powerhouse in and out of the office, Mat’s passionate about news and media, giving back to the community, California chardonnay, delivering great results, jet set travel and re-defining irreverent each and every day.

Erin – as president, she works with WG’s exceptional team and fabulous clients. Away from the office, Erin’s a self-proclaimed foodie, grammar zealot, dog fanatic, wine devotee and aspiring globetrotter.

YY – as senior consultant, YY (Yvonne) specializes in media relations, crisis/issues management and consumer marketing public relations. She is a pop culture enthusiast, lover of smart/witty television, a concert-goer, wannabe world traveller, frugalista and our resident recycling fiend.

Trevor – as a senior consultant, Trevor advises clients on communications strategy and objectives, manages large-scale public relations campaigns and identifies and secures valuable media opportunities. He is a lover of too many foods, yoga enthusiast, musical theatre junkie, great friend and a terrible singer.

Michael – as consultant, Michael helps design social media strategies and tactics for clients. He has been blogging and tweeting for more than three years, is a fan of thriller fiction, will trade beer over wine any day and is a gymaholic.

Lynsey – as a communications specialist, Lynsey is our resident media relations pro. She’s WG’s wine S.P.O.A. (Specific Person of Accountability) and a firm believer that the best ideas are expressed over a good bottle of merlot. She can be found enjoying fresh seafood, getting down on the dance floor or watching a good ole’ hockey game.

Nick – as a communications specialist, Nick is in regular possession of WG’s “keener wiener” award as result of the outstanding media relations results he achieves for a number of Wilcox Group clients. Always in the know in life and business, Nick enjoys anything that will make him laugh or pause to think.

Jeff – a trained librarian and head of WG’s research department, Jeff lends his significant sleuthing skills to all client projects. He is a media junkie, sports diehard and expert foodie. He is also takes the blame for getting the entire firm on Twitter.

We want to hear from you, so please share your opinion by posting comments. Like all websites worth their weight, we’re going to keep a constructive environment and moderate the comments.
